The Warm Welcome in Phoenix
My most memorable place is of course Phoenix, Arizona state. I visited there to see my friends. The reason why I have friends in Phoenix is because I stayed there three years ago. But, my stay was only for ten days. In spite of it, I was shown warm hospitality by all of my friends. It was really nice meeting them again.
First, it was the first experience for me to go somewhere by plane by myself. Many people whom I don't know helped me at the airport. I felt so happy. First day in Phoenix, my friend, Huda, who is an immigrant from Bagdad, invited me her house. Her mother made awesome Arabic food for me! It was the first time for me to have Arabic dishes, but I loved them so much. I thought it was the most delicious thing since I came to America. Then, I said to her mom, "Thank you very much. It was so good." However, she couldn't understand me because she spoke only Iraqi. Even if we didn't communicate well, we had a great time.
Second day in Phoenix, I met Richard, who has studied Japanese in his high school. He majors in theatre acting at Arizona State University. He took me to his university. Its campus was larger than the campus of UCI. I liked there. I could find some cactuses there, and I felt I was in Arizona! After exploring ASU, I met his dad, his dad's girlfriend and her son. We had a big steak dinner! It was the first time to eat a steak in America. They said they were really looking forward to seeing me. I was so glad to hear that. It was a wonderful steak night.
I think I will come back to Arizona again. I really love there. Of course, I like here, California too. I really wish I stayed in America much longer.
Hey, Mr.America, do you love me? I LOVE YOU!! Kisses, Yumi

The person I admire
The person I admire is Matsushita Konosuke. He is the person who created the company, Panasonic. Panasonic is one of the famous Japanese company which produces some machines. The machines made by Panasonic are very popular all over the world. I also use them.
The reason why I admire him is because he was a modest person. Normally, successful people are selfish. But, he was always modest, and thought about other people.
One day, a man and wife met him on the train by chance. They were surprised because he was already famous. Then, they said something and gave him mandarins which they had. He said Thank you to them. They were happy just talking with the person that created Panasonic. When he got off the train, he kept bowing to them until he couldn't see them! The man and wife were so moved. This is the famous story that shows us his modesty.
I want to be a person like him. I think modesty and appreciation is the most important thing ever.

Nice To Meet You,Everyone
Hello.I am Yumi.
I'm from Hyogo, Japan. My university in Japan is Kwansei Gakuin University, and I am a freshman. My major is sociology. Because I'm curious for people and society, I am studying there.
Then, I'll tell you something I'm interested in. My favorite thing to do is playing with my dog. Her name is Hanako. "Hanako" means flower child in Japanese. I named her so because she came my house in May. May is the season which many flowers open up in Japan. Now, I don't miss my family, but I miss only her. I may buy something American for her. Maybe, something like jerkies will be fine to her.
Then, I like to eat. Especially, I like Mexican food like taco. But, I totally want to try to have any food. So, please invite me your lunch if you are okay.
Anyway, I would love to talk with you all. Talk me with a light heart!!
